Ordering & Customization
- Can you add my logo or artwork?
Yes! You can upload your file when ordering or email it to us afterward at Orders@MakerPlates.com. Accepted formats: SVG, PNG, JPG, PDF, AI, EPS.
High quality or vector files work best but we can sometimes clean up or convert your artwork if needed.
- Can I reorder the same plate later?
Absolutely. We save past designs, sizes, and artwork, making reorders easy.
If you create an account, you'll see them in your My Orders section.
- Do you offer custom shapes?
We can do custom shapes with the acrylic material using our laser cutter. However our metal plates can only be cut in rectangular shapes. Metal plates however can still have different corner options like square, round, or notched corners.
- How do I choose the right size?
Measure the space where your plate will go, then place your order for the size you need to fill the space. We recommend leaving a 1/4" of space around the edge for a clean look.
- What materials do you use?
Please see the "Materials" page in the top menu for all of our currently offered materials and specs.
- What’s the difference between engraving and sublimation?
Engraving cuts through the surface to reveal the underlying color of the material. It is long lasting, and very detailed, however it is limited to the colors of the material.
Sublimation uses heat and ink to infuse the design into our coated aluminum plates. Also long lasting and allows for full color, photographic-quality prints. Best for color logos or images.
Artwork, Text, & Fonts
- What fonts do you offer?
We offer a wide range of fonts and can match most style requests.
If you have a specific font, let us know and we'll check compatibility.
- Can you engrave photos?
We only engrave text and solid color logos. However for sublimation plates, full-color photos can be printed.
Blank Plates (Cut to Size)
- Can I order blank plates with no engraving?
Yes, just select the "Blank Plates" option while ordering.
- Do blank plates come with protective film?
Yes , all blank plates include protective film to prevent scratches before use.
- Can you bulk cut plates for my business?
Yes — we offer wholesale pricing on large orders. Contact us for bulk rates.
Mounting & Installation
- What mounting options do you offer?
Premium Tesa tape adhesive backing, Screw holes with screws, or No mount (plate only).
- Will adhesive plates stick to my surface?
Yes — adhesive sticks great to: Wood, Metal, Plastic, Painted surfaces, Glass, Smooth walls
It may NOT stick well to: Dirty surfaces, Textured surfaces, Raw stone or concrete
Clean the surface before applying.
Production & Shipping
- How long does production take?
Most orders ship in 1–3 business days. Large or bulk orders may take longer. Rush options are available — contact us before ordering.
- How long does shipping take?
USA shipping usually takes 2–5 business days, depending on the method selected at checkout.
- Where do you ship from?
All orders are produced and shipped from our family-owned shop in Olathe, Kansas.
- Do you ship internationally?
Currently we only ship with in the United States.
Order Issues & Policies
- Can I change my order after placing it?
Yes — as long as the plate has NOT gone into production. Contact us immediately if you need to make changes.
- Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Because our plates are custom-made, we cannot accept returns. However, if there is a mistake on our end, we will replace the plate. See Maker Plates Guarantee page for more details.
- What if my order arrives damaged?
Just send us a photo of the damage, and we’ll replace it right away. See Maker Plates Guarantee page for more details.
- Will I see a proof before production?
You have the option when placing your order to receive a proof for approval before the plate is made. However this will delay production time if we do not get approval back from the customer in a timely manner.
